[edit] Overview

Adding a new database couldn't be simpler!

  1. Search MetaBase to make sure you are not duplicating information
  2. Create a link to the database on your user page [[like this]]. NOTE: The best policy is to use the full database name in the link.
  3. Follow the link to initialise a new page.
  4. Edit and save your text!

Additionally you should add the following Wiki text to your new database;

{{User contributed resource}}
{{Database page data}}

You should also add at least the category database in your database

[[Category:Database]]

You can also add other categories so that people looking for database can find them in a easier way. You can find a list of the categories currently available.

The above 'templates' help with the organisation of the database pages in MetaBase, ensuring that the page is listed here and by adding some useful automatically generated 'external links,' respectively.

[edit] Stylistic and other considerations

Currently there is no 'style guideline' for adding database or resources to MetaBase. If you have ideas and would like to contribute, the MetaBase projects page may be a good place to start. In general you should consider reading a few entries before you create your entry to get a feel of what is an acceptable style.

Additionally you may like to categorize your database within the MetaBase system. The MediaWiki software that runs MetaBase provides a very flexible categorization system, however, no general rules or guidelines for categorization have yet emerged. Use your common sense, and look at existing categories before you decide how to categorize your database.
