Database Description

The focus of FusionDB is to provide in-depth analysis information for biologists that try to understand particular gene functions. FusionDB provides multiple alignments of the fused genes as they occur in different genomes, together with phylogenetic tree reconstruction and structural information where available. Emphasis is put on the visualization and scoring of the individual events, and access to the raw sequences is always available. Abstraction from the individual gene in a single genome to the gene family as described by the Cluster of Orthologous Groups (Nucleic Acids Res. 2001 29:22-28) allows for example for database researches based on gene function. This database is cross-linked with our phylogenetic profiling Web-tool PhydBac (Nucl. Acids. Res. 2003 31: 3720-3722) and includes all finished genomes from GenBank as of May 2003.
