[edit] Database Description

All publicly available ESTs that have been processed through various cleaning steps where contaminating DNA, eg. vector, E. coli. and short sequences (<100bp) are removed. The database is used as input to two subequent pipelines:

the ESTinformatics dbEST assembly pipeline
that consists of: EST cleaning, clustering and annotation. The resultant contigs are then passed through the last part of the pipeline that generates SSRs, candidate SNPs, ORFs, statistics and a GBrowse view of the data.
the ESTinformatics SNPs pipeline
that can detect SNPs within a mixture of Sanger, 454 and Solexa EST reads.
